ELLERSLIE TRAINING

USEFUL GALLOPS RECORDED PURIRI PARK GOES FREELY PSYCHOLOGIST ALSO PLEASES BY ARCHER Solid gallops over six furlongs by Hamp-. ton Park and Kiltowyn and by Puriri Park, Psychologist and Royal Survey were features of a useful morning's work "at Ellersiie on Saturday. The weather was fine, ex-; cept for a heavy shower that fell during, the breakfast interval, and the No. 2 grass provided good going considering the amount of . rain that had fallen earlier in the week. Marching Song and Mahkill, carrying fair weights, covered six furlongs in j 1.23 1-5. the first three in 40,2-ss. They strode along in good style and Mahkill is working with more freedom than for some time past. She has a disposition to go ecratchily, but should be a useful hack if. all goes well with her this season. Ruling King and Supreme Ruler were not asked for their best to 1 run six furlongs in 1.25 4-5. They went at an even pace all the way and worked very satisfactorily. Supreme Ruler has a nice turn of speed and he looks like a horse who will improve a good deal in the next few months. Imamint trotted round to the turn and* then sprinted home with plenty of dash. She has not been overtaxed lately and has freshened up nicely. Imamint was not at j her best when ehe raced last month, but she should be in better trim for the Avon-, dale meeting in October. • Catoma's Easy Six Catoraa moved evenly over six furlongs in 1.25 l-5s and would have, had no difficulty in making better time, No fault can be found with his condition and with the work he will get in the meantime he should be in good racing shape next month. * • Zane Grey finished just ahead of Hunting March, the Pantheon—lodine filly, and Ornamental at the conclusion of half a mile in 535. Zane Grey is making satisfactory progress, and so are Hunting March and the Pantheon filly,- who are among the moat promising novices at headquarters. Kiltowyn (E. Manson) and Hampton Park (Lardner), after running the first three in 40 2-ss, completed six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. They went in good style and were running on. strongly at the end.. Kiltowyn's effort was pleasing for a novice and Hampton Park galloped with his usual freedom, having a little in reserve at the finish. Landlubber (Jillings) sprinted three furlongs in 39 4-ss. He has not been required to do any serious sprinting since he made a promising debut at the Pakuranga meeting, but he is thriving well and should be improved next time he is called upon to race. Tarporley (Baker), after a Blow beginning, reeled off three furlongs in 41 8-ss, He is in very healthy condition and should be a payable proposition this season if he keeps spund. One of his forelegs has shown some signs of weakness, but he has been free from soreness just lately, and at present is standing up to his work quite satisfactorily. Round by Patutahi Puriri Park ; (Fuller), Psychologist (McTavish) and Royal Survey (Lardner), after running the first three in 39 l-55,. .finished up six furlongs in 1.20 3-5, with Royal Survey just behind the other pair. Puriri Park had a good pull in the weights and he was going very easily at the finish. Psychologist also went pleasingly and promises to be an improved horse this season. Patutahi (Cammick) encompassed a round in 1.55 3-ss, being assisted by Lady Winifred© (Baker) over the last six furlongs in 1.23 1-5. The easy going. ,Buited Patutahi, who did not go quite as lazily as usual, while Lady Winifrede hit out freely and could have trone faster if required. • Lord Aintree (Garrett) was under restraint while running half a mile in 55 4-ss. His proposed trip to Wanganui has : been abmdoned, but he is in the best of health arid will be kept going with a view to racing at Avondale. Deputy Ruler and Charsong strode along steadily over six furlongs without being at top at any stage. They are thriving on the useful work they are being allotted and Deputy Ruler promises to shape well when he is stretched out in earnest. Queen Arausio (McTavish) and Bright Flower (Mcßae) were not- bustled to run half a mile in 565. Queen Arausio is now making steady advancement, but she has a good way to go yet before she is ready to race. Wee Musk Improving Vandyko (Lardner) was never at top while running eix furlongs in 1.28 1-5. He has not been asked for any fast gallops lately, but has been working very uspfully and is very bright and healthy. Roman Mascot (McTavish) was going easily to cover five furlongs in 1.16. She is improving in condition every week and has made excellent progress since returning from the spell she had after racing in tho autumn. Roman Maseot should be a good proposition for a novice race as soon as she is ready. Wee Musk (Clarke) sprinted half a mile in 51 l-ss, and Cynthia N. (Nesbit) ran six furlongs easily in 1.27 .1-5. Wee Musk is displaying some improvement, but has not yet accomplished anything to indicate that he is better than a moderate. Royal Gallant (Cammick) was anxious to go faster while covering six furlongs at three-quarter pace. He §till retains a lean appearance, but is hard and muscular and will be thoroughly ready to race next month. Demylus (McTavish) was going much better than Glenhaupo (Parsons) and Egyptian King (Mcßae) at the completion of five furlongs in 1.7 4-5. Demylus was on the outside and was travelling at the finish. As far as ho has been tried' he shapes well and his future progress will bo watched with interest.
