Mrs. Elizabeth Lloyd, aged 36, wife : of a South Wales miner, suffered a disfiguring facial disease and as a last resort was sent to Sir Harold Gillies, a noted plastic surgeon, who worked six months to restore her features. The surgeon was surprisingly successful. When the bandages were removed, medical students flocked to the ward to admire the operation. When a mirror was handed to Mrs. Lloyd sh? said: "What a surprise for my husbancj when he comes to see me on Whit Monday." v . The husband. Edward Lloyd, duly arrived and stayed in the hospital for 10 hours, chatting continuously with his wife and giving her news of their 10-year-old boy.
