MURDER OF WIFE
HUSBAND FOUND INSANE PLASTIC SURGERY CASE SEQUEL (Received September 16, 12.45 a.m.) LONDON. Sept- 15 Edward Lloyd, charged with murdering his wife last May, has been found to be insane and unfit to plead. He has been ordered to be detained during His Majesty's pleasure. Mrs. Elizabeth Lloyd, aged 36, wife : of a South Wales miner, suffered a disfiguring facial disease and as a last resort was sent to Sir Harold Gillies, a noted plastic surgeon, who worked six months to restore her features. The surgeon was surprisingly successful. When the bandages were removed, medical students flocked to the ward to admire the operation. When a mirror was handed to Mrs. Lloyd sh? said: "What a surprise for my husbancj when he comes to see me on Whit Monday." v . The husband. Edward Lloyd, duly arrived and stayed in the hospital for 10 hours, chatting continuously with his wife and giving her news of their 10-year-old boy. Apparently they were very happy and the nurse left the ward for a few moments. Presently the nurse heard a piercing scream. She ran back to find 1 Lloyd lying across his wife's bed with, his "throat cut. The wife was similarly in* jured and died in a few hours.
