TEAMS TOURNAMENT The teams snooker tourney was advanced n further stage at the Phillips' billiards parlours last evening, when W. Irwin's team defeated a tenm captained by S. Gray by 591 points to 528. Fine contests, characterised by close finishes, were appreciated by a large attendance. Most interest centred in the games between Irwin and Gray. The first pame resulted in an easy victory for Irwin by 62 points i to 16. It was black to win in the second and a fine long shot by Gray cave his team a chance in tho final. Irwin was at liis best in the last game, however, and gained another easy win. CHAMPION TOURNEY The second round in the champion snooker tourney was continued at the Central Billiards Saloon last evening, when two verv interesting matches were*witnessed. In the first M. Yates defeated J.. Rawson bv two games to one, the scores being 37 —05, 68—44. 80—45, Yates proved a splendid tactician and potted well when opportunities came his way. Rawson alsd 1 played well. Keen interest was displayed in the second match, when C. Bloomfield beat S. Watson. 54—33, 68—64. Bloomfield is one of the finest players in Auckland, and treated onlookers to a delightful exhibition of clean pottme. In his present form he will prove verv diincult to beat. Watson played surprisingly well. The second game was black to win. Watson being unlucky in going in oft. The tournament will bo continued on Monday night, when Mycr» will play Kintt and Rose meets Smith.
