ROOPE ROOSTER COMPETITION MARIST WINS THE FINAL CITY TEAM OUTCLASSED By Svinning the fins.l of the Auckland Rugby League's Roope Rooster competition by 28 points to 8 at Carlaw Park on Saturday, Marist outclassed the City team. City gave a very disappointing display. Marist won possession of the ball from every scrutn, and -weak tackling by the City backs made tries easy for the opposition. The winners gave a high-olass exhibition of the passing game and City <Xos badly beaten by a superior rear division. Cornthwaite, the cac-Auckland Rugby Union representative, was the outstanding back for Marist. Ho rispeatedly beat the defence with clever running. Turei, another prominent Rugby back, played a good game for City. Marist will now play Devonport next Saturday for the Stormont Memorial Shield. Marist won the toss, and City faced a strong sun.
