NEW DAIRY SEASON

GREATLY-INCREASED YIELD VERY FAVOURABLE OPENING INCREASE OF 25 PER CENT The new dairying season in the Auckland province has opened favourably and the production during the first month, July, was considerably in advance of July of the previous season. The returns for July show that the Auckland output, in terms of butter-fat, increased by approximately 25 per cent in comparison \vith that for the opening month of last, season. The butter-fat output of the whole Dominion for the month showed an increase of about 23 per cent. The butter made in the province during July totalled 20,448cwt., about fourfifths of the Dominion's production for the period, which was 25,522cwt. Auckland also produced about one-third of the cheese made during July, the quantity being 4356cwt. of the 13,256c\vt. for the Dominion. Reduced to a butter-fat basis, the output of the province for the first month of the new season was 2,096,0001b., compared with 1,676,0001b. for July of last year, an increase of 420,0001b. of butter-fat. The output of the Dominion was 2,953,0001b., compared with 2,405,0001b., an increase of 548,0001b. The increase in production is due to the fact that the season has been a comparatively early one and there is a large increase in the number of suppliers. Stock experienced a good winter and herds have come through in particularly good condition owing to good autumn growth.
