CONTEST FOR KOHN CUP RECORD TIMES REGISTERED The Calliope Harrier Club held its annual 20 miles relay race from Aiickland to Papakura for the Kohn Cup on Saturday. Burins the afternoon every lap record was broken and the course record reduced by live minutes to 2li 3m Ss. McC'ombie ran the first stretch from the Ferry Buildings tn the tram terminus in 27m 455, breaking the lap record by lm 425. Clayton ran alone over the second section to Otahuhu and covered tho distance in 30m lis, which is 3m 583 bctte • than tho previous best time. TECHNICAL OLD BOYS' CLUB The Technical Old Boys' Athletic Club held a harrier run on Saturday afternoon from tho homo of the club president. Mr. R. G. Kirkwood, Whitworth Road, Mount Eden. Thirty members competed on a course round the Three Kings to Mount Roskill and back. The run-in resulted as follows:—L. R. Macdonald, .1; S. Darbyshire. 2; D. Knight. 3; A. Warren. 4; R. Pearce. 5: T. R. Ellison. C. Tho runners were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr. and Mrs. Kirkwood. In thanking them for their hospitality, the club's secretary. Mr. A. AUCKLAND CENTRE'S RACES HALL JUNIOR CHAMPION A strong westerly wind and accompanying showers mcde racing conditions difficult for the competitors in tlie two amateur road races conducted by the Auckland Cycling Centre on Saturday. The junior championship, which attiacted 1G starters, was run over a 23-miles' course extending from Western Springs to Swanson and back. Although Hall and Pinfold, the tv/o placed scratch riders, conceded starts up to 10m, they were able io tfain the lead shortly after making the tarn for home at Swanson. In a hard 6print. in which the four placed riders participated. Hall won by half a wheel from Pinfold. Hall also gained fast-?st time and was awarded the championship sash, which was presented to him by Mr. H." C. Webster, president of the centre.

Tho senior event of 40 miles was over a course from the Western Springs to Kumeu. via the Swanson tunnel hill, and back to the starting point through Brigham's Creek and Henderson. Thirty-four started in the race. The scratch men. I. C. Laloli, H. V. Gordon, M. P. Byrnes and L. H. Dwight, gave the limit rider, N. Craig, ISm start. To the Kumeu turn the riders had a head wind for practically the full 21 miles. Craig 6till led at this point, but only 20s behind followed Morris, Bates, Raper and McLachlan. Gordon and Laloli passed 3m 50s after the leader, having taken G3m to the turn. Byrnes took C4m 20s and Dwight 64m 30s. Nearing Henderson. Gordon and Laloli were fast overhauling Baper and McLrtchlan. who led. Soon Gordon's front tyre deSated, but he continued at'redu'ced speed. Meanwhile, Laloli and Baird maintained a steady pace to take the lead eight miles from the finish. Gordon later changed cycles with Morris, but could not recover the lost ground. In a fast sprint, Baird led out and pained the line half a length ahead of Laloli. Raper finished 57s later and Gordon 3m 23s after the winner. The successful seniors were:—S. J. Baird (Manukau), 3m, 2h 3m, 1; I. C. Laloli (Auckland), scr, 2h 0m Is, 2; E. Raper (Manukau), 10m, 2h 10m 575, 3; H. V. Gordon (Manukau), scr, 2h 3m 235, 4.
