POST OFFICE WANTED

MOVE AT ROYAL OAK -i PETITION BEING PREPARED Representations are being made to have the Post Office reinstated at the Royal Oak, Onehunga, After a room in a building, once known as the Royal Oak Hotel, had been used for some years, the office was removed to a new shop in the Mount Roskill district and some distance from the Royal Oak. There is widespread feeling in the district that a small building should be erected on land belonging to the Postal Department and situated at the corner of Manukau and Campbell Roads.

Efforts are now being made to obtain signatures to a petition to the PostmasterGeneral to this effect. The main complaint is that the present situation of the office is too far removed from the centre of business to be convenient for the majority of people. It is argued that the foundations of tho new structure could bo of sufficient siz» to enable additions to tho building to be' made when business warranted it. Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, will present the petition when Parliament meets this month.
