FURTHER HEAVY RAIN
GALE CAUSES DAMAGE SYDNEY, Sept. 1 Fear of floods in the areas traversed by the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers has increased. As the result of further heavy rain the upper tributaries of the Murray are in heavy flood. The overflow of Hume weir is expected hourly. The Murrumbidgee River flats are inundated. A portion of 'tho Ratlow railway line was washed away and Hilla's Creek bridge was destroyed. A cyclonic gale caused severe damage in the towns of Trangie and Merriwa.
