THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE MARKED RISE IN LEVELS Forward movements were registered yesterday in the investment market on tho Auckland Stock Exchange. In spite of a strong demand, holdings were not readily released and a reduced turnover of business resulted. The market for Government loans was dull, no sales being effected. The halfyearly distribution of interest was made yesterday on four issues, which, consequently. were marked down. Inquiry for banks and insurance issues closed strongly. For Commercials of Australia huvers advanced Id to 14s 3d, and holders were quoted Id higher at 14s 4d. English. Scottish and Australians, which were again not quoted by holders, were sought 4s 6d higher at £4 8s 6d. Quotations of Nationals of New Zealand, lor which buyers r.ffered 2s higher at £3 17s moved forward 5s 6d to £4 2s 6d. A sale jn New South Wales, the first ex div., was 2s 6d lower at £26 15s. Closing 'offers were 10s higher at £27, and quotations at £27 7s 6d were 7s 6d in advance. New Zealands changed hands 3d higher at 47s 6d, after which offers settled at 47s 7d, an advance of 7d, and a parcel was transferred at this price. Closing quotations were 9d higher at 48s. Offers for National Insurance were 2d higher 'at 13s 10d, but holders did not respond. New Zealands were again quoted at 42s 6d and buyers advanced their limits 4d to 42s Id without business resultins For South British offers wero mamtamed at 575, holders being quoted oil higher/at 58s 6d. In the other sections, New Zealand Breweries appreciated in value and an early sale, unchanged at 275, was followed by two transactions at 27s Id. For Tooths offers and quotations rose by 3d to 28s and 29s 3d respectively. Bycrofts were done 3s higher at iOs and °^-J s at 28s 6d reflected an advance of 9d. Offers for British Tobaccos were 6d higher at 29s 3d and quotations rose by a similar amount to 30s 6d. Higher quotations were f.lso put in for Colonial Sugars and "Wilsons Cement, for which offers were stationary. . , x A feature of the mining market was a r ;» in Mount Lvells, which were roleased twice 4d higher at 21s. The rise wag accompanied by an advance m offers of fed to 21s 2d and quotations were up a similar amount to 21s 6d. There was a sale in Golden Dawns unchanged at ss.
