Scanlan, of New Plymouth, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Central Hotel. Airs. P. Battey, of Remuera, with her son and daughter, is staying at Hotel Mon Desir, lakapuna. Lady Alitchelson left by the limited for Wellington last evening. She is expected to return to Auckland on Friday. Airs. A. J. Taylor and Miss Rae Taylor, of Dunedin, are visiting Auckland and are staying at Hotel Cargen. Airs. 11. Kerr, of Taranaki, and Miss Foster, of Cambridge, are visiting Auckland and are staying at Hotel Cargen. The Misses Todhunter, of Sydney, have returned to Auckland from a tour of the North, and arc staying at Hotel Cargen. Airs. Boston Couper, of Cambridge, and Aliss Phyllis Dennis, of Wellington, are visiting Auckland and are staying at the Station Hotel. Aliss Lucy Hogg, of the staff of the Auckland Diocesan High School for Girls, is spending the vacation with her parents in Christchurch. Airs. G. W. Sare, of Dunedin, who has been visiting her son in Hamilton, is now tho guest of her niece, Airs. W. St. John Clarke, Domett Avenue, Epsom.

Airs. A. R. Bruhn, of Alelbourne, will arrive by the Alonterey this morning, to spend a holiday with her parents, Air. and Airs. H. Kelly, of Portland Road, Remuera. Mrs. C. Atkinson, of Okoroire, Airs. Al. Bevan, of Hamilton, Aliss Hughes, of Hastings, and Aliss James, of Palmerston Nojrth, are visiting Auckland and are guests at the Central Hotel. Aliss Alarjorie Alyers, of London, who has been the guest of Mrs. Neville Newcomb, of Remuera, will leave by the Alonterey to-day on a visit to Suva. She will return to Auckland later. The first business meeting in connection with the newly-formed Business and Professional Women's Round-Table Club was held at the Y.W.C.A. on Thursday. The following officers were elected:—President, Aliss H. C. Laing; vice-president. Miss Al. Petterd; secretary, Aliss K. Collins; treasurer, Aliss A. Wilshire. Alembers of St. Peter's Fleur-de-Lys Girls' Club, Takapuna, met at the residence of Airs. Heighway last week when Air. Foster Brown gave a lecture upon folk music. Supper was provided by Airs. Heighway, who was assisted by the committee of the club. Items were given by Mrs. Heighway and Air. Brown. A resolution was passed in favour of the Bible-in-Schools Enabling Bill at the monthly meeting of the Waiuku Women s Christian Temperance Union over which Airs. Ballantine presided. It was decided the Church ministers should be asked to refer to the centenary of the temperance movement in their sermons on September 11. Airs. Anderson, Airs. Ballantine, Airs. Hull and Aliss Hosking were appointed to attend fhe Auckland District Convention in September. A very successful hard-up dance was held in Favona Hall, Alangere, on Saturday evening. Prizes for tho best hard-up couple wero won by Airs. Back hurst and Airs. O. J. Collins; for the best funny lady, by Mrs. Lane, a negress; for tho gentlemen, Air. R. Lane, as Robinson Crusoe. Junior prizes were wqn by Aliss Sydel, who represented a flower girl, and Alaster Alarks, as a hard-up traveller. The hall was decorated with streamers and silver butterflies. Alembers of the Alothers' Club of tho Y.W.C.A. wero the guests of the Progressive Club at a social evening held on Thursday. Airs. Rawley welcomed the guests. Items were given by tho following:—Vocal solos by Alesdames Walker, Dickens, AlcGillvery, Baker, AlcConnell and Aliss Benn; pianoforte solos by Aliss Forest and Aliss Bcufell; step-dance by Aliss Alma Cox. Competitions were won by Alesdames Forest, Hay and Miss Benn. Supper, served by the committee, and dancing concluded the evening.
