CANTERBURY SHEARERS
CONCILIATION ON WAGES NO AGREEMENT REACHED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH", Monday No agreement, was reached in the Canterbury shearers' dispute, which was heard before a conciliation council this morning. The offer made by the employers was discussed, after which the parties separated for private conferences.
After the conference Mr. W. H. Nicholson, for the owners, announced that they had failed to reach an agreement upon rates of pay. However, conciliation sittings had been arranged for Blenheim on September 8 and Dunedin on September 20, and if any agreement were reached at. either of these places it. might, be made to apply to the whole Dominion.
