SUNDAY SCHOOL WORK
TEACHER FOR 60 YEARS MR. J. WATKINSON HONOURED A gathering was held in .the Dominion Road - Methodist Sunday .School to. commemorate the completion by Mr- J*.Wat~ kinson of 60 years as a r Sunday. School worker. Mr. Watkinson started his teaching work in 1871 at the Edward Street Primitive Methodist School, continuing at the Upper Pitt Street School. With Mrs. Watkinson he has been associated with the Dominion Road School since 1914. He was the Auckland Sunday School Union's representative at the National Congress in England in 1921. Mr. W. H. Newton, president of the local union, presented Mt. Watkinson with the 60 years' diploma of honour of the National Sunday School Union, expressing admiration of his. devoted services. Sir. Watkinson was also presented with an inscribed volume on behalf of the Dominion Road School and was appointed " Superintendent ' Emeritus." Other speakers also made feeling reference to Mr. Watkinson's long and influential work.
