WORLD SUNDAY SCHOOLS
FOUR-YEARLY STATISTICS Every four years the World's Sunday School Association compiles statistics of Sunday schools, teachers and scholars from •every part of the world. The figures gathered for presentation at the quadrennial world Sunday school convention, held in liio do Janeiro at the end of last month, are now availablo, and show an increased total enrolment of 2,294,000 in the four-yearly period. Figures received from 113 countries are included in the summary, .and the largest proportional increase has been in Latin America, where the total enrolment increased by 33 per cent to 227,000. The grand totals show that there are now 330,000 schools, 3,294,000 officers and teachers and 32,014,000 scholars within the scope of the association, representing an increase of nearly 7 per cent. The great majority of the Sunday schools are in North America, where the enrolment has increased by 14 per cent to 22,826,000. In Europe the enrolment had decreased by 814,000 to 8,503,000. There - are substantial increases in all the other main areas, save in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania, where the increase is only 0.1 per cent. There are in that division nearly 12,000 schools with 881,000 teachers and scholars.
