HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST OVERCAST, WITH RAIN The following ( weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— An extensive, series of westerly depressions is moving on to the Dominion. Barometric pressure is still high in the north, but is decreasing gradually over New Zealand. Cloudy to overcast weather conditions are indicated, with rain in most districts, heavy ' in western areas. Northerly to north-westerly winds, moderate to strong, freshening at times, and increasing strong to gale in places southward of New Plymouth and Napier. Rough seas southward of Cape Egmont and East Cape. Local outlook: Overcast, with rain. Mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling . . 30.05 in. Midnight, Saturday . . . . 30.3t)in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to mid night)— Maximum, 64tieg.; minimum, 4Sdeg. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A vigorous depression has crossed the Dominion and a moderate anti-cyclone is now advancing from tha westward. Indications are for moderate to strong northerly winds. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont and East Cape; elsewhere moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh southerly winds -and rather rough seas. The weather will bo unsettled, with showers in most districts and further heavy falls in tho Cook Strait area, conditions improving soon, however, in western districts and gradually elsewhere.
