CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS McGRATH WINS SINGLES TITLE (Received August 28, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 27 In the semi-final of the singles in the City of Sydney tennis tournament yesterday the youthful Vivian McGrath disposed of Aubrey Willard, in 15 minutes, 6—l, 6—o, 6—o. McGrath was simply irresistible. At no stage in his brief but brilliant career has he displayed such perfect stroking. Later McGrath beat Ray Dunlop, 6—2, 6—2, 6—2 in the final. In the women's singles Miss N. Hall beat Miss U. Valkenburg, 4—6, 6—2, 6- —4. In the men's doubles Dunlop and Donohoe beat McGrath and Willard, 6 —2, 6—2, 6-0. In the mixed doubles McGrath and Miss Hartigan beat Donohoe and Miss Valkenburg, 7—9, 6—3, 6—l. GAME IN AMERICA (Received August 28, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 27 Vines and Gledhill yesterday beat Cochet and Bernard, 16—14, 3—6, 4 —6, 9 —7, 6 —2, in the semi-final of the United States national tennis doubles. To-day they defeated Allison and Van Ryn in the final, 6—4, 6—3, 6 —2. In the final of the mixed doubles Perry and Sarah Palfrey defeated Vines and Jacobs, 7—5, 6—3.
