WOOL INDUSTRY
AUSTRALIAN CONDITIONS RUSSIAN TRADE ADVOCATED SYDNEY, Aug. 27 In giving evidence before the Wool Committee of Inquiry, Mr. John Oswald Forsyth, merchant, said that if the Federal Government made arrangements to trade with Russia on a limited credit system such as that operating in Britain, it would benefit Australia to the extent of £5,000,000 a year. Mr. Forsyth stated facts in regard to the markets for wool in China, Manchuria and Russia, his knowledge having been gained by personal experience in those three countries over a period of 14 years. Russia was a wool growing country, witness said, but she had a population of 160,000,000, which was increasing at a rate of per cent annually. She would never be in a position to supply her requirements in fine wool sucli as was grown in Australia.
