THE 4A SCHEME
Si r! —He 4A scheme; wo have heard a lot of what, the Government are going to do, what the farmer should, or should not do, but nothing as to what the unfortunate 4A employee is going to do. Two years ago, with my last iiver in my pocket, I put 200 miles between myself and Auckland, with the idea of trying my luck in tho country. Considering the bad times, I have managed to scratch along fairly well, and for tho last 1 i months duo mainly to tho 4A schemo. A few days ago I had made arrangements with a former employer, to put in six months with him on developmental work. As ho is not in the position to pay an adequate wage, he made inquiries ro the -'scheme, ' but was informed that it was all off. Well, so is my job. 1 have interviewed several farmers, but they can't afford to extra labour, now that tho "subsidy is cut out. As far as I can seo, the only thing that remains for mo is to return to tho city, and live on the relief work atid charity. I fled from two years ago. Disgusted Digger.
