GRAZING COW REMOVES BALL / . Curiosity not only killed the cat. It led Lilv the cow into giving a laoy goller on the Fitzrov links. New Plymouth, one day last week a big surprise and several anxious moments. '1 he lady played ail approach shot to No. 4 green, the ball landing under the nose of Lily, who was grazing on the edge. ''l hope the cow leaves my ball alone," remarked the golfer to her partner, and she had no sooner said it than Lily, with a look of curiosity in her eye, picked up the ball. She munched it reflectively, then, before the rush of the two golfers, fled down the hill. The threaCof mashies waved wildly was too much for Lily, who dropped the ball and made off to more peaceful pastures. The ball was undamaged, but, the cow had set a poser for the golfers. What was the penalty, if any, since the ball had been carried yards from I lie original land-ing-place? It was settled by regarding the. circumstances as "land under repair," and the ball was taken back and dropped.
