OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
The Auckland open billiards championship was continued last evening in ilie Vulcan Lane Billiards Parlours, when W. E. nnckett, past. New Zealand champion, defeated H. l«\ Valentino. Hackett treated tlie spectators to a superb exhibition of all-round billiards, making breaks of 52, 59, 50 and 00 in successive visits to tho table. Valentino did not set many opportunities, but still displayed some of his old brilliance, Hackctt's bent breaks were 30. 42, 52, 50, 59. 'JG, and Valentine's 'l3. 33, 24, 37, 32. Tiio tournament will be continued this evening when M. White will play K. Tait. E. J. Goodhew and W. E. Hackett will meet to-morrow evening.
