RETIREMENT OF CHAIRMAN
CONTINUING AS MEMBER
The announcement of his resignation at chairman of the Auckland Education Board will be made by Mr. A. Burns at a meeting of the board to-day. Mr. Burns ' intends to propose Mr. T. U. Wells ag his successor.
Mr. Burns states that he has served eight years as chairman and he wishes to see the office held by another member. He was recently elected unopposed to a seat on the board for a further four years, and he will serve this term as an ordinary member.
Mr. Burns has already .had long public service. He was at one time Mayor of Thames and he served on many local bodies there. He has been a member of the Auckland Education Board for the past 20 years and has served on ether educational bodies.
