AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS
WELLINGTON SEEKS MATCH The Wellington Cricket Association is endeavouring to mako arrangements for a match with Mailoy's cricket team when in Wellington on its way hack from America next month. The team will bo leaving San Francisco by the Monowai oil August 31. This vessel is due at Wellington on September 19, and does not leave again for Sydney until tho following afternoon. If it could be arranged to defer the departure of the Monowai for throe or four hours a two-days' match could bo played. This date is a few weeks earlier than the usual dato of the opening of tho cricket season in Wellington, but, as the attraction would bo an unusual ono it is thought, that such ft chance should not he missed if it is at all possible to arrange a, match. It is understood there would be no difficulty in arranging for tho preparation of a pitch on the Basin Reserve a few woeks ahead of the usual tim#«
