MAN WHO PRETENDED DEATH
THROWN INTO A RAVINE A man in France who pretended death recently in order to save his life was nearly killed when robbers tossed " tho body " over a cliff. A bush broke his fall and he was able to crawl home, badly shaken. Returning from Grenoble with £240,' wages for workmen, M. Divol, manager of a cement works at St. Martin -de Vinoux, was held up by two masked bandits. One struck him with a heavy stone on the neck, and the other, threatening him with a revolver, snatched the wallet. • In the hope of being spared 1 from further attack, M. Divol lay still <jn the ground. But the robbers, seeking to cover up the tracks of their " murder," seized him by the head and feet and threw him down a ravine.
