TAIL-WAGGERS' CLUB

GROWTH.OF MOVEMENT WELFARE WORK FOR DOGS New and more convenient arrangements have been made in Auckland and suburbs for dog owners who desire to make their dogs members of the Tail-Daggers' Club. Hutchinson Brothers, Limited, grocers, will accept and supply enrolment forms at all their branches. These forms will be sent once a week to the headquarters at Wellington and the official receipts and medallions will be despatched from there. 1 The Tail-waggers' Club was founded by Captain H. E. Hobbs in 1928, at a meeting held in Birmingham, and to-day it has more than 500,000 members in all parts of the world. New members enrol at the rate of 600 a day. New members in Wellington average 200 a month. A lot of work has been done in Wellington for lost and injured dogs. Unfortunately, in Auckland at present the club has no means of dealing with stray dogs. The secretary of tho club, Mr. P. E. Wingrove, is visiting Auckland and would be glad to hear from any dog-lovers who can-offer a solution of the question. He may be telephoned at number 16-450 during the week-end, on this or any other matter appertaining to the welfare of dogs in the Auckland area. To-day he will be at the club's stand at the Auckland Kennel Association's show. The policy of the club is an active one. Controlled by an executive of its own members, whose concern is the betterment "of dogs•under all conditions, the movement is forging ahead as a result of work done arid approved by the pubjic. The annual subscription is 2s 6d, or any sum in excess that may be given voluntarily. For this the dog is issued with a medallion which enables it to be iraced in any part of the Dominion. An owner whose dog has been enrolled is entitled to free advice on dog management. and hygiene, and is further entitled to special newspaper service should the dog be lost. Lieutenant-Colonel A. J. Thompson, of Bridge water Road, Parnell, is the veterinary surgeon for the club in the Auckland area.. The membership of the club in New Zealand is very nearly 1000.
