PARACHUTIST'S FATE
ENTANGLED WITH MACHINE KILLED IN 500 FT. FALL LONDON, July 27 While 5000 spectators watched a parachute demonstration at Littleport, they saw a Birmingham parachutist, R. Hopkins, jump from the wing of an aeroplane at a height of 500 ft. The parachute beoame entangled in the elevator and Hopkins hung suspended from the aeroplane's tail while the pilot vainly tried to regain control. He nose-dived from 100 ft., however, and crashed. The parachutist was kTlled and the pilot is in a critical condition.
