APPOINTING COMMISSIONER EARLY DECISION REQUESTED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES, ■ Thursday The Thames Borough Council last evening considered the position of the borough in view of the decision of M r * Justice Ostler in the Supreme Court at Wellington on Friday on application by four debenture holders for the appointment of a receiver in the borough owing to default in payment of interest. The council decided that a letter be sent to the Loans Creditors Committee and to the Minister of Internal Affairs containing the following resolution :—"ln view of the Court adjourning the application for a receiver the council respectfully requests that steps be taken to have a commissioner appointed ag early as possible, owing to the urgent necessity for dealing with the annual estimates and the striking of rates for the current period." The appointment of a commissioner was authorised by legislation passed at the last session of Parliament.
