July 20 Mr. Justice Halse Rogers, the Royal Commissioner appointed by the Stevens Government to investigate the allegations regarding tin hares and fruit machines, resumed the inquiry to-day. John Cruickshank, described as a free lance advertising agent, gave an account oj negotiations associated with tlio advertising campaign of the New South Wales Labour Party. He related a conversation he said he had with Frederick Swindell in June. Witness stated that Swindell said he would pay for the advertising on behalf of the party, " the same as last time." James Taylor, formerly secretary to the Australian Coursing Club, said the directors of that body decided to appoint Swindell organiser for five companies in order to get greyhound racing restored while the Labour Party was in office. Swindell's terms were 12,000 shares. His nominee was to be a man named Hutlon. The minutes of that meeting were torn out of the book because the directors complained they were too brief. The inquiry was again adjourned.
