COMPENSATION CLAIM
WIDOW AWARDED £IOOO DEATH OF SLAUGHTERMAN [by telegraph—press association] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday Compensation of £IOOO was awarded by the Arbitration Court to-day to Harriet Fleming, widow of Alec Fleming, slaughterman, against the North Canterbury Sheepfarmers' Co-operativo Freezing Export and Agency Company. .While at work on January 28, Fleming suffered an injury and died three days later. It was claimed that the injury was caused by the extra exertion of killing heavy ewes. Medical evidence was that Fleming's blood vessels were in. poor condition, but there was a conflict of medical evidence as to whether the injury actually occurred on January 28 or whether it was caused by strain at all. •', - - .
