LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

TOUR OF ENGLISH TEAM.

TEST MATCH ARRANGEMENTS.

EXHIBITION GAME REQUESTED.

Arrangements for tho forthcoming test matches against. England were discussed at last evening's meeting of the Kew Zealand Rugby League Council. Plana for extra seating accommodation were submitted. It was decided to make provision for 3000 seats in a temporary stand.

After a lengthy discussion it was decided to play tho second lest match at Monica Park, Christcliurch. It was originally intended to uso English Park, but that ground was not considered suitable. Mr. W. Kelly, tho coach engaged for the New Zealand team, advised that he would arrive in Auckland from Sydney by the Zealandia next Tuesday. A request was received from New Plymouth asking for an exhibition gamo with tho English team against Auckland. It was pointed out that a ground could bo obtained and ihero was everv indication of good supXiort from tho Taranaki public. Tho secretary, Mr. O. Carlaw, said ho had been in communication with tho English managers and tho project was impossible, as tho visitors did not have tho time at their disposal. A sub-committee, however, was appointed to make further inquiries as to the possibility of playing a match in Taranaki.

Mr. J. Sanders solo selector of tlie South Island team, notified that the team this year was a strong side and he had found some good players on the West Coast. The code in that centre had made good progress and West Coast's defeat of Canterbury recently was an outstanding performance. It was decided to advise the West Coast League that it was not possible to play a challenge match against Auckland prior to the North and South Islands match. REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. AUCKLAND VERSUS SOUTH. Tho first representative Rugby League match of the season will bo played at Carlaw Park to-morrow when South Auckland will meet Auckland. Considerable interest is being taken in the match as the Auckland team to play England will be chosen at the conclusion of the game. South Auckland has shown good form this season by defeating Northland and thus winning tho Northern Union Challenge Shield. The Auckland team selected for to-morrow is, however, a strong combination. The backs particularly aro capable of giving a good display of the code. - Tho inclusion of A. E. Cooke between Brisbano and Davidson, tho League code star backs, should give the Auckland rear division plenty of opportunities on attack. Considerable interest will also centre in tho curtain-raiser between the Possibles and Probables. Some of tho best players in tho code will bo seen in action, and a few may gain a place in tho ' team to meet England. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, will attend Carlaw Park tomorrow.
