MONEY BY FRAUD.
SIX MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT.
HABITUAL CRIMINAL CHARGED.

Sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed on David Carter, aged 55, who pleaded guilty in tho Magistrate's Court yesterday to charges of obtaining £4 by false pretences, the theft of a parrot and a breach of his release on probation.
Accused was stated to be an habitual criminal, who was released on April 14, 1930, and reported regularly until February of this year. Last March he sold a parrot, and in May visited the house of the man to whom he had sold it and stole the parrot. He obtained £1 at Lower Hutt on the representation that he had a wireless set for sale, and £3 at Upper Hutt; as a deposit on two horses he said he had bought. He had been going round imposing on people, particularly taxi-drivers.
