OPERATIC SOCIETY.
SOCIAL AND DANCE. The monthly winter entertainments, •which proved so popular last year, were recommenced by the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society in the society's hall, Grafton Road, last evening. A programme of a very high standard was presented by members' and friends of the society, the items including songs by Mr. J. Stokes, Miss Gladys McAneney, Mr. R. Morgan and Mr. Ernest Snell; humorous, items by Mr. Rex Yates, Miss Dulcie Milner and Mr. George Storey; a recitation by Miss Hilda Morse; a duo by the Asquiths; and dance exhibitions by Miss Betty Edwards and Miss Daisy Yates and Mr. York Gray. Among those present were: —Mrs. W. J. A. Thomson, who wore a frock of navy floral chiffon; Mrs. F. E. de Guerrier. in powder-blue figured ninon; Mrs. Robert Purdom, turquoise blue sprigged taffeta; Miss Peggy Cutting, ivory satin with a rose brocaded coatee; Miss Inez Abdullah, almond-green floral georgette; Miss Noni Wright, floral ninon in autumn tones; Miss Mona Craig, black ring velvet; Miss Irene Tanner, ivory georgette; Miss Jean CarsofT, bottle-green patterned chiffon; Miss Fay Brooking, shejl pink taffeta inlet with black; Miss Edna Ballantyne, shell-pink organdie; Miss Gladys Ryan, nattier blue lace; Miss Sybil Phillips, whjte tiered taffeta; Miss Marjorie Faire, buttercup floral taffeta; Miss Hilda MoVse, apple-green satin beaute; Miss Gladys McAneney, marigold panne velvet; Miss Norah Friedlander, black sprigged taffeta; Miss Darrie Heather, briar rose taffeta; Miss Marjorie Woolley, black Chantilly lace; Mrs. Kissen, white taffeta, ornamented with pink roses; Miss Yeo, black lace and georgette; Miss Edna Cammell, rose-pink iische net.
