HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST

CLOUDY TO OVERCAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Another cyclone of tropical character is developing north-westward of the Dominion and. conditions are very disturbed over most of the Tasman Sea. Barometric pressure is temporarily high over New Zealand. Fair to cloudy weather is indicated, becoming overcast generally, and rain following in most districts, heavy throughout the Auckland province. Variable winds, easterly to north-easterly, moderate to strong, prevailing and increasing. Seas becoming rough and increasing on the east coast. Moderate seas on the west coast. Local outlook: Cloudy to overcast. Heavy rain is expected to follow. Fairly mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.95 in. Midnight, Monday .. .. 29.85ir>. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 60deg.; minimum, 50deg. ' GOVERNMENT REPORT. The* Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An anti-cyclone is centred west of Tasmania and extends to New Zealand, but a new cyclone is now located over the north-west Tasman Sea. Indications are for variable winds, with easterly to northerly prevailing *in the North Island and southerly to southeasterly over the South. Light to moderate, later freshening "Seas moderate to rather rough. In the eastern Tasman Sea moderate to strong north-east winds in the northern portion and freshening south-easterlies in the southern portion. Seas moderate, but rising. The weather will be mainly fair at first, but with some isolated showers, cloud and mist, increasing soon, however, and rain developing at first in the northern and southern extremities, later extending to other districts.
