BURGLARIES ADMITTED.

OFFENCES IN THE COUNTRY. YOUNG MAN TO BE SENTENCED. [Fltoar OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOITE, Tuesday. As a result of police investigations into a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries which have occurred between Papakura and Tc Kauwhata during recent months, a young farm hand, John Leslie Florence, admitted charges in tho Pukekohe Police Court to-day. Messrs. E. Allan and G. T. J.P.'s, were on the Bench. Accused pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the shop of Pulham and Begbie, Te Kauwhata, and stealing money, clothing and goods to the value of about £6O on May 11; with breaking and entering the motor garage of George, Whittingham, Wairoa Road, Papakura, and stealing a watch, valued at 17s 6d and a chisol on Juno 27; with the theft of an overcoat and clothing valued at about £3 from Lewis Grouden, his late employer, at Paerata, about April 17. Ho was also charged with attempting, between June 27 and July 1, to break and enter the business premises of C. D. Earl, tho Farmers' Trading Company and T. F. Snell, at Papakura, and tho Farmers' Trading Company, at Pokeno. Constable Powell said he located Florence at Pukekohe and noticed lie was wearing an overcoat and shoes similar to those taken from the shop of Pulham and Begbie at Te Kauwhata. At first accused denied any offence, but subsequently admitted that he had committed a burglary there. He then said he wished to make a statement and admitted all tho offences with which he was charged. Some of tho clothing and the watch stolen from Papakura had been recovered, but no money had been recovered. In a statement to tho police, accused gave an account of his activities since leaving his job at Paerata last April. Some period was spent at a boarding houso in Auckland and at Te Awamutu, but at other times he wandered from town to town, attending dances and sleeping in sheds or in empty houses. On all charges the accused was committed to the Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence.
