RETURN ON INVESTMENTS. Following is n list of yesterday's transactions on New Zealand Stock Exchanges. In tho second column is given t!ie return, based on the last, annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In tlie case of Government and oilier redeemable securities no return is given, in view of the new method of quotation, but the months in which interest is duo are shown. In calculating the return on shares in companies which pay their dividends outsido New Zealand exchange rates, being liable to fluctuation, have not been taken into consideration. The developments at Lausanne, together with brighter employment prospects in Australia, produced a buoyant tone on the Sydney Stock Exchange today. The volume of business was well above tho average for a Monday. Bonds made further headway, and there was also good inquiry for bank scrip and Colonial Sugar, also for pastoral companies. MEAT SEASON IN OTACO. HEAVY KILLINGS AT BURNSIDE. [by TELEGRAPH.' —own correspondent. ] DUNKDIN, Monday. The New Zealand Refrigerating Company's works at Burnside have had a good season. By the time killing for the year ceases on Saturday the number of carcases handled will bo about 10,555 in excess of tho number last season, owing largely to 1110 fact that operations began about a fortnight earlier. A good supply of stock has been kept up most of the time, and quality has. been well maintained. About 140 hands will go off next Saturday. FOREIGN EXCHANGES. STEADINESS OF STERLING.
