THE SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
CONCLUSION OF FIRST ROUND. UNIVERSITY MEETS GRAMMAR. The first round of matches in the Auckland Rugby Union's senior championship Competition will bo concluded to-morrow, afternoon. Grammar is at present leading Ponsonby by one point, with University and Manukau level in third place and Technical Old Boys fifth. University will have an opportunity to-morrow of drawing closer to Grammar and the meeting of these two teams is sure to attract a larpjo crowd to Eden Park. ' The match should bp one of the brightest of the season. The curtainraiser will bo provided by the Auckland and Takapuna Grammar Schools' first fifteens. Takapuna has been doing Well this year for such a young school and its representatives are likely to make a bold showing against Auckland.
Ponsonby will play Training College oh No. 2 ground and should be successful. The result of the matoh on the oval will be of vital importance to Ponßonby. Grafton and Technical Old Boys will meet on No. 3 ground and the latter should win. Its team will be strenghtened 'by the inclusion at cenlre-threequarter of Fletcher, an ex-Mana-watu representative. Manukau arid Marist have been matched at tho Show Grounds and they will provide a good contest for patrons from the Epsom district. Manukau should win on form, but the result may bo close. A keen pme is likely at Otahuhu, whero the homo team will bo opposed by College Rifles at Sturges Park. Lower grade competitions will bo continued. Following arc the teams:— MANUKAU.
