NEW SOCIETY FORMED.
CATHOLIC REPERTORY PLAYERS
A new movement in the Auckland theatrical world has been initiated by the formation of a Catholic Repertory Society, which has Bishop Liston as its patron, an influential list of vice-patrons and a very representative committee. The selection committee includes Miss "isolinde McVeigh, Father Doyle, Mr. Gaston Mervale, Mr. F. Mackle, and Mr. J. Tole. The society's first production, it is hoped, wiil bo given 011 August 9 in the • Manchester Unity HalL, the stage of which will be temporarily enlarged. The first bill will bo triple, but full details have not yet been finalised. Although the officials are Catholic, the membership will be open to, and the players will be drawn from, all denominations. The plays presented will not he purely religious or Biblical, but will be chosen from the best of the type which would not in ordinary circumstances be seen on the professional stage. 'J he great aim of the society is to present fine productions which, being entirely free from any objectionable aspects, will cater for all classes of the community, including the young.
