CIVIL SERVANT SENTENCED. GAMBLING AND HORSE-RACING. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PEES 3 ASSOCIATION,] CKRTSTCITCRCH, Friday. A clerk in the Public .Service, Edward Joseph Rcbb, aged 53, was to-day sentenced to 15 months' reformative detention for the theft of £lB3, the property of the Post and Telegraph Department. Mr. Justice Kennedy said that according to prisoner he incurred debts through gambling and horse-racing. The benefits of probation could not be extended to him.
