Oats: Slow at about 3d decline. Peas and beans: Dull. Beet sugar: July, 5s 7id. THE CITY MARKETS. YESTERDAY'S AUCTIONS. RIPE BANANAS DEARER. A sharp increase in the prices of ripe repacked bananas occurred at tho Auckland City Markets yesterday on account of a shortage of supplies. The best quality bananas realised 16s to 19s a case, against up to 13s earlier in tho week. The prices of apples, pears, lemons and poorman oranges were practically unchanged, but passion fruit were cheaper at 6s to 10s a case. There was only i, fair demand for tree tomatoes, which realised 3s to 5s 6d a casr ; , while the demand for Island oranges, which were offered at 10s to 14s a case, was poor. Hothouse tomatoes at lCs to 15s a case were keenly sought. In the field produce section there were ample supplies of pumpkins, kumaras, carrots, beans, new potatoes, celery and all other vegetables ; n season. Onions were slightly cheaper, while cauliflowers were not so plentiful, probably on account of the cold weather. Prices of cauliflowers and celery were a little above those ruling at earlier sales. There was a fair demand for most lines.

There was a medium supply of poultry, the; demand being fair. The prices paid remained about level with those obtained earlier in the week. A decrease of 2d a dozen occurred in the prices of all grades of eggs yesterday. First grade eggs, both hen and duck, realised Is 4gc! a dozen. The demand was only fair for plentiful supplies. Moderate supplies of farmers' butter sold well at the usual rates. Little inquiry is coming from the North Island for potatoes, as the quantities that have gone forward are keeping the northern market well supplied. The Waimarino sailed yesterday witli 6700 sacks ; from nil southern ports, a few less than j was expected. The Waipiafa is due to j load at Bluff about July 7, and she i should be at Lyttelton about July 12. J The JuJv delivery is quoted at £6 5s ! f.0.b., sacks included; July-August, at j £6 15s; and August-September, from £6 17s 6d to £7. The price to farmers for prompt delivery is £5 a ton on trucks. Fowl wheat has been sold at 4s 9d, f.0.b., sacks extra. So far the price has | not been affected by the proposed importations. Milling wheat earns id a bushel increment as from the begnning of the month. Oats and chaff are meeting with scarcely any inquiry. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held a clearing sale (in conjunction with Dalgety and Company, Limited), on account of the estate of Mr. J. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] GISBCRNE, Friday. Entries were email at ';he Matawhero sales to-day. The market for fat sheep was firm, with values about the same as last week. The market for stifre sheep appeared a little brighter than laet E riday. One pen of fut ewes made 7s sd, but otherwise values were 5s Id to 6a 3d, and 7s 3d for pome mixed two-tooths. A few lambs made ?s 2d. Second-grado ewea ranged from 4s Id to 5a lOd. In the store Bheep section a quantity of sound-mouth breeding ewes made 8s 2d and Ss 6d. Four avd six-tooth, in fairly good order, realised 6s 7d. .'Empty : ewes madw 4s lOd for a good pen and 3s 4d tor fairly good ones.
