Tho Auckland Club's senior event took the form of u handicap and a champiousliip. The championship sash was awarded to tho fastest time rider. Tho distance was lli miles, which proved rather too short for H. 0. Browne and I. C. Laloli, tho club's leading - scratch riders. In spite of the rapid pace they set by taking turn about with the lead, they wero unable to drop A. W. Pinker, who completely surprised all when at the finish he outsprinted Browne and Laloli by a clear length to gain the blue sash with a lime of 31m 375. Pinker has had long experience of roacl work, for he raced with tho Manukau Club as early as 1926. C. Goodcr, 3in 15s, assisted by his comarker, G. A field of 13 juniors patronised tho five miles race decided by the Manukau Club. A rather brilliant performance was established by E. L. G. Hughos, who rodo off 30s, and secured second place and fastest time in 13m 38s, tho best junior time registered this season. 'lho winner, R. I. 11. Grogan, scored a runaway victory from the 3m 15s mark. A splendid example of tho valuo of combined pacing was given in tho senior 15 miles contest by G. P. Clark, F. R. Markham and It. C. Chappell, off 3m, who finished first, second and fourth respectively. Tho trio shared the honours of recording the fastest lap on Saturday of 6m 35s for the miles circuit. Clarkhas many fine performances credited to ( him in long distanco events. Last year' he won two events and in the last three annual long distanco championships he has been third on each occasion. Tho fastest rider was S. J. Baird, 2m 30s, who took 42m 5 4-5s and finished third in the leading bunch. Baird has a freo style of pedalling and last year ho scored time honour;? in three events. His latest effort is only 5 ,4-5s slower than Robinson's course record.'
