MILITARY FORCES.
APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED. PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS. A number of appointments, promotions and transfers of officers of the New Zealand military forces has been approved. In the. Auckland Regiment Captain D. McF. Rao is transferred from the reserve of officers to the Ist Battalion, and Captain H. S. Harrison is to be quartermaster, with tne rank of major, while Lieutenants M. C'. Casey, J. S. Matthews and L. E. K. Averill and Second-Lieuten-ant K. J. Duncan are transferred to the reserve of officers. Second-Lieutenant A. S. Batty is transferred from the Waikato Regiment to the Ist Battalion. Five officers of the North Auckland Regiment aro concerned in the alterations. Captain M. R. Downey, Ist Battalion, is to bo quartermaster, Captain H. F. W. Cliffe, Ist Battalion, is transferred to the regimental supernumary list, Lieutenant M. de R. Petrie, Ist Battalion, is promoted to captain, Lieutenant J. P. C. Walshe, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the reserve of officers, and Lieutenant D. Bolton, 2nd Cadet Battalion. is promoted to captain. Lieutenant W. A. T. Maguire, Ist Composite Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps, is promoted to captain. Captain A. W. Nisbet. New Zealand Air Force, is transferred t-o wing headquarters as flight-lieutenant.
