DEBTS TO AMERICA.
SUSPENDED PAYMENTS. AGREEMENTS TO RESUME. (Received Juno 5, 6.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 4. Britain formally agreed to tho repayment over a period of 10 years of tho sum of 159,520,000 dollars (about £31,904,000 calculated at par) which sho owed the United States this year, but which amount was deferred by tho Hoover moratorium.
The British Ambassador, Sir Ronald Lindsay, Jiigned tiio document at the Treasury office. Interest is io be at a rate of 4 per cent. Tho first payment is to be made next December.
Italy also signed a debt agreement to-day.
Other nations which have signed the formal postponements, which merely put into effect the agreement reached last June, have been Greece, Finland and Germany. Tho remaining nations concerned are expected to sign during the coming week.
