VESSEL SPRINGS LEAK.

POUNDED DURING STORM.

DAMAGE TO HUNTINGDON.

ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Sunday.

Tho Federal Line steamer Huntingdon arrived at Wellington yesterday morning in ballast from London leaking slightiv. Tho vessel experienced the same southwesterly galo that delayed tho Tainuiand the Otokia.

Being in ballast, the Huntingdon- pitched considerably, and it is thought that the continual pounding during the storm, which lasted for five days, strained some of tho rivets in the forward portion of tho vossel, thus causing a slight leak. An examination will be made to-day into tho extent of tho damage. It will then be known whether it will be necessary for tho Huntingdon to dock at Wellington for repairs.

Tho Huntingdon is a vessel of 10,951 tons and was built in Germany in 1920. i Her former namo was the Munsterland ? and she was taken over by the Allies 1 after the war. Sho was later purchased / by tho Federal Steam Navigation Company.
