RIFLE SHOOTING.
BAY OF PLENTY CLUBS. ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING The annual championship meeting of the r . Bay of Plenty Rifle Clubs' Association was held at Thornton Range on June 3. There were forty competitors, and the shooting was of a high standard. Tho weather was dull, with a light breeze. Tha light varied.., considerably and the visibility was poor when the last men were shooting. Rifleman Kiddie, Tauranga, won the Moore championship bfelt with an aggregate v. of 100. He also won the Opotiki match.,; (200 yards), with 34. Rifleman C. JesplierKOll, Rangitaiki, was second in the aggrogate with 93 and also won the Whakatane match (500 yards), with 33. Rifleman J. , D. Clark, Opotiki, was third with 97, and won the Tauranga match (GOO yards), with the only possible of the meeting. Tho B grade championship was won by Rifleman A, Oliver, Tauranga, with a total of 00. Tho first competition for the Opotiki Star, for four-men teams, was fired iu conjunction with tho championship shoot, and Tau- ;■ ranga A team was the winner with a fine scovo of 381, averaging over 95 per man. The highest scores were:—Kiddie, 34 at 200 yards, 33 at 500 yards, 33 at 600 yards, total, 100; C Jespherson, 32, 33, 33—95; Clark, 31, 31, 35—97; W. Moore. 33. >32, 32 —97; A. Olivor. 32, 33, 31—97: H. Oliver. 33. 32. 30—95; Andrews, 29, 33, 32—94; Mer-l-ielees, 29, 31, 33—93; Spratly, 30, 30, 33—93; Mcintosh, 33, 32. 23—93; Johnstone. 31. 29, 32-92. , . - The Opotiki Star teams match resulted. —Tauranga A team. 3SI; Rangitaiki A. 373- Opotiki, 36G: Tauranga B, 361, lau; - C, 318; Whakatane, 345; Rangitaiki.. B, 328.
