Bon Eve, in the hurdles, ran an entirely different race compared with his performance on the first day. He ran to the front nfler eeven furlongs and soon gained an unassailable lead on the field, winning very comfortably. Gnswyn jumped badly. Acora lost her rider at the second, fence when in front. Ida Merling. a firm favourite for the maiden race, led all the way and scored a comfortable win. Araios went up to Ida Merling entering the straight, but ran wide. Then Wild Ileather came strongly. Ida Merling, however, only had to be ke'pt going to win with easo The winner, who is from L. G. Morris' stable, is a half-sister by the new sire Robespierre to Red Wink, a good performer a few years ago. She looks a very promising filly. Ruanui. favourite for the principal handicap, was a fair distance back early but ho got a good run up from the five-furlongs' post, and was-handy on the turn.- Entering the straight, however, ho was badly interfered with, losing what was a likely win-, ning chance. Enuitnnt wns always going well. Tobaccoland produced one of his rare glimpses of form. The surprise of the meeting eventuated in the Ohau Hack Handicap, of eeven furlongs, when Kotahi Eka just pot home in front of Forest Stag. Kotahi Eka was always well placed, but Forest Stag had come from a fair way back. In addition, lie went out wide into the straight and it looked as if he should have won. It was tho winner's first success since September on the same course, in a maiden race. There was only £l2 on him on the totalisator. ' Alpinist scored a- narrow .but fairly comfortable win in the concluding event. She, ran up on the outer at the turn and tackled tho pacemaker.
