EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD. PROPOSED NEW RAILWAYS. The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of June 5, 1882: — Our Wellington correspondent telegraphs :—" The Auckland members are moving in the matter of the Northerns railway connecting Auckland with t 0 Bay of Islands and Hokianga and I am told that it may be depended upon as certain that if we do not get the ern railway the Otago Central line wi still remain on paper. I am also inform that it is quite possible that- an arrangement may be come to between the c * land and Otago members whereby bo works may be undertaken out of the pro,. posed loan." The largest and most influential mee ing ever held in Tauranga took place o Saturday evening (June 3).
