THE RIFLE BRIGADE.
GATHERING OF MEMBERS. OFFICERS IN VOLUNTEER UNITS. Reference to the work of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade in Egypt and France was made by Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Barrowclough, D.5.0., M.C., at the second annual reunion dinner of the Auckland district branch of the regimental association of the brigade on Saturday overling. He also referred to the fact that many officers of the brigade, and also of other units, were still actively interested m military work, and were carrying on as officers of volunteer units. About 250 members of the brigade were present at the reunion.
An outline of the work of the Returned Soldiers' Association in Auckland in caring for disabled and impoverished men and their families was given by Sir George Richardson, in responding to the toast of tiie association. Other toasts honoured during the evening included those of "The King," "Other Units" and "The Brigade." The entrance to the hall in which' the reunion was held had been decorated to represent a French estaminet, a realistic effect being obtained. During the evening musical and elocutionary items were given by Messrs. D. Taskcr, P. Dawson, IT. Carter, J. Halford, K. Ward, Bryce Ilart and Tano Fama.
