OTAHUHU DEMONSTRATION.
GOVERNMENT PLANS OPPOSED RESOLUTIONS OF PROTEST. A labour demonstration protesting against the increased taxation and economies proposed by the Government was held in Sturges Park, Otaliuhu, yesterday afternoon. A crowd of over 1000 was addressed by Messrs. F. W. Schramm and W. E. Parry, M.P.'s. Resolutions protesting against the proposals in the National Expenditure Adjustment Bill and calling upon the Government to exercise the sustenance clauses of the Unemployment Act of 1930 were unanimously adopted. The proceedings were of a very orderly nature, and a feature of the attendance was the large number of women.
