IRISH BUTTER BOUNTY.

BE VALEII.VS SCHEME.

BID FOR BRITISH MARKET.

DOMINIONS AFFECTED. By Teletrraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received April 17. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 10. A bill is to be introduced in the Irish Free State Dnil on April 20 providing for a bounty of 2d a lb. on exported butter by means of a levy on butter pioduttion. It is believed in Dublin that the prices in tho British market will touch low levels this season, consequently the need for assistance to dairymen is urgent.. Assuming that bounty becomes law, butter traders do not expect any effect on tho London price or the sales of Australian produce. Ireland made inquiries into the working of the Australian bounty scheme, on which its own is based. Consequently it is believed that the onlj effect will be an increased price to Irish consumers with a consequent benefit to dairymen, though all will share in tho payment of the levy. The Dublin correspondent of the Times says the bounty proposal clearly indicates Mr. de Valera's intention to concentrate on tho British market, in which he is resolved to light not only the Danes but; also Australians and New Zealandcrs. The bounty should make the export price of 1 reo State butter 110s a cwt., compared with the home price of 1475.

OATH OF ALLEGIANCE.

ABOLITION OPPOSED. BILL'S PROSPECTS DOUBTFUL. LONDON, April 15. The Dublin correspondent of the Daily Mail says it is understood that when Mr. do Yalera introduces the bill to abolish the oath of allegiance in the Dail next Wednesday, the Leader of tlio Opposition, Mr. W. T. Cosgrave, will move to postpone it until tlio British and Free State Governments have inquired into its probable reactions on the treaty. The Bill is not likely to pass the Senate, where Mr. Cosgrave's party has a, majority of staunch treaty supporters.
