FINAL EVENTS OF SEASON.

CONTESTS AT PANMURE ESASIN

'Unbroken water and a good liich tido made, for excellent racing in the Pa.nmnre Basin on Saturday afternoon, when tho Auckland Outboard Racing Club held itS final races. Although eight events were set down for decision, with six attractive trophies, the number of starers was rather poor for tho last big event of the season. Tho attendance was good and the larger entries were popular with siiectators. The sharp left-hand turn at the entrance of tho Tamuki River gave the onlookers many a thrill .when the boats took tho bend too fast and threw up showers of spray. Lapping in the main events was of a high standard, the craft running much more consistently than usual. Pug put up an excellent performance by lapping as followß in one event:—lm 6s, lm 7s, lm 6s, lm 7s. Tho Herald Cup event for 2m 10s class boats was won by Hell's Bells in 6m Is. The Goldsbrough Memorial Cup event drew the largest number of Bpeedsters to the line, the trophy going to It-isn't-lt, which completed tho course from a two-minute handicap in 8m ss. with three seconds separating the second hydroplane, Hell's Bells. Hell's Bells was the most consistent boat on the course, and Pug performed up to her usual standard throughout. Following were the results:

The A and B class championship event bought out only two boats, It's-It, driven by C. it. Turnbull, and Home Brew, driven by J. R. Steer. Both powered by 10 h.p. niqtors, pot away on time, It's-It being a second ahead. It's-It held her lead for one. and a-half laps, when Home Brew stalled. . Result .—lt's-It, Sm '27s. 1. The general handicap for hydroplanes for tho Burns Cup saw seven boots away in order of their handicap, as follows: Nymph Junr., 255, 5s late; It's-It, ]m 10s, (is late, Rngs, 2m, Miss Clevedon, 2m 255, Hell's Bells. 2m 555, Thar Lap, 3m 20s, Pug, om aOs. This was an excellently handicapped event, all the boats keeping their positions until the last lap, when only seconds separated them. Mr. W. P. Neal s Pim gave the thrill of the day when from the back position she Hashed through at the backof tho course, passing five boats and challenging Hell's Bells 50 yards from the finish. ~, Result Pug. 7m 50s, I; Hell's Bells. 7ni 50.-!, 2. Miss Clevedon, Sin 3s. 3. four boats competed for the Laidlaw Cup for runabouts over four laps. C'hancit as away on time, followed by Oyez (20s). which was late in starting, with Lady_ Eve (30.5) close behind, and Nymph (lni 255). Lady Eve gained on Oyez in the first Chancit held her position, losing very little ground on the turns. Nymph, which was row closed up, passed Oyez at the back of tho course, and Chancit, which had been caught by Lady Eve. At the Tamaki turn Lady Eve swung right around before straightening up, and Nymph went through to win a splendid race. Result :~Nymph, 7m 425. 1: Lady Eve. 7m 525, 2; Chancit, 7m 58s, 3. C Class Championship, over -1 laps.— Hydro and Rags did not start, nlu ' ! ,n tho gun Miss Clevedon took the load by half-n-length from Hell's Bells. T.io two boats kept together for three laps. 11l the last lap Miss Clevedon gave a good run. but made ft bad turn. Rosut.—Hell's Bolls, 5m 375, I*, Misa Clevedon, 5m 3Ss, 2. Hi'.rai.o Cup event, for 2m 10s hydroplanes.—Hags, on the limit, was away to a good start, followed by Miss Clevedon. 3ns, Hell's Bells. Im, and Pug, lm 50s Hells Bells passed Rags in the second lap and after a great race at the back of the course inn into first place, increasing her lead to win bv nine seconds from Miss Clevedon. Result. —Hell's Bells, 5m 375, 1; Miss Clevedon, 0m 10s, 2: Pug, 0m 15s. 3. Novelty Turning.—Pug. 11 2-ss, 1; Nymph. 11 -1 os, 2; Chancit, 12 3-ss, 3. j Open Championship, for Mr. Wilkies championship pennant.—This race was betweeu Puk and Hcll'fl Bells, which started to time. Pug taking the lead from the start and holding it to finish tin uneventful race with Hell's Bells four seconds behind. Result.—Pug, -lm 525. 1; Hell's Bells. 4m 50s 2. General Handicap, for Goldsbrough Memorial Cup.—This event brought out 12 starters. The boats wcro all away on their handicap times. Pug was most spectacular and from her early start was with Miss Clevedon, which took the lead in the third lap, willi It-isn't-It close up. Pug leapt nearly out of the waiov on peroral oocnsions and showed her full turn of speed. Pug and Miss Clevedon dropped out on the last lap and It-isn't-It, won in a close finish from Hell's Bells.
