"O, PERFECT LOVE."
BAN ON A FAMOUS HYMN. Among 200 hymns which are likely to b e eliminated from the hymnal of the Methodist churches of America as " impossible," " übsole'e," or "containing exaggerated imagery," is "O, Perfect Love," the favourite hymn at marriage services in Britain. On tlie recommendation of a special commission, many famous " old-time " hymns are to be eliminated to allow for the inclusion of 200 new ones which have been approved. Other " old-timers " which are doomed include " Church Triumphant " and " O Come With Me." The commission of ministers and laymen met in Pittsburg, and tho hymns under scrutiny were sung by a baritone chorister. The hymnal is being revised to nerve th" Methodist Episcopal, tho Methodist Pn b'stant and the Methodist Episcopal Church South, which propose to unito.
