BIRTHDAY PARTY. A very enjoyable evening party was given by Mrs. Banks, of Tamahere, at Mrs. E. G. Hollo's home on Wednesday for her twin son and daughter, Miss Merle Banks and Mr. Maxwell Banks. The drawing room, in which the young people danced, was charmingly arranged with huge bowls of beautiful dahlia blooms and pale pink Michaelmas daisy. Mrs. Banks was wearing black charnieuse and Mrs. Rollo wore black taffeta and lace. Miss Merle Banks wore a frock of floral taffeta. A monte carlo dance was won by Mr. Bob McNicol and Miss Ella Penney. Among the guests were Mrs. M. W. Coventry, Miss Long (Cambridge), Miss Ella Penney, Miss M auric Walsh (Feildinp:), Miss Katli Oliver (Tamahere), Miss Edna Broad (Cambridge), Miss Molly Luxmore (CHorohanga), Miss Alison Coventry, Miss Doris Broad (Cambridge), Miss Xancv Luxmore (Otorohanga), Miss Clare ClaytonGreene, "Miss Gray Hammond, Miss Margaret Rollo. Tennis Dance. One of the most successful seasons that the Whitiora Old Pupils' Tennis Club has had since its inception was brought to a close on Saturday evening when a dance was held in the Whitiora Infant School. The hall was gaily decorated in the club's colours, blue, and white. During the evening the trophies won during the season were presented by Mr. Carrick Nis bet. who is president of the club. Among those present were Mrs. C. N'isbet, Mrs. A. IJnhinson, Mrs. 0. C. Street, Mrs. (!. Groig. Mrs. E. Humm, Miss M. Shiels, Miss E. Andcr. Miss D. Ander, Miss P. Seccornbe, Miss J.
